WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR LIVE AUCTIONS

Whether you're a seasoned collector or attending for the first time, here's everything you need to know before you bid.

REGISTRATION

All bidders must register before participating. You will be assigned a unique bidding number, which is the only identifier used during the auction — no names, just numbers.

Save time on auction day by pre-registering online — skip the lineup and head straight to the floor. Walk-in registration is also available on the day of the auction, so be sure to arrive early if registering in person.

HOW BIDDING WORKS

Every item sells to the highest bidder — no reserves, no exceptions. When a lot comes up, the auctioneer opens bidding and takes raises from the floor. Hold up your bidding number clearly to place a bid. The hammer falls when no further bids are received, and that item is yours.

We move quickly, so stay alert. If there are items you're interested in, keep an eye on the lot list and be ready when they come up.

THE LOT LIST

At check-in, you will receive a complete list of all items in the order they will be sold. Every item on the floor has a lot number that corresponds to its place on that list and the order in which it will be auctioned. Use this list to plan ahead, mark the items you want, and make sure you are paying attention when your lots come up.

ALL ITEMS SOLD AS-IS

All items are sold as-is with no warranties or guarantees. We strongly encourage you to inspect every item thoroughly during the preview period before placing a bid. Once the hammer falls, all sales are final.

PAYMENT

All winning bids must be paid in full by 5:00 pm on auction day. We accept:

  • Credit card

  • Debit card

  • Cash

COLLECTING YOUR ITEMS

  1. When you win a bid, your item is moved to our holding area for safekeeping.

  2. Pay for your item at the payment desk.

  3. Bring your receipt to the holding area to claim your purchase.

  4. If you win additional items throughout the day, simply repeat the same process — pay, then present your receipt at the holding area.

All items must be paid for and picked up by 5:00 pm on auction day.

A FEW TIPS

Handling an Estate or Downsizing? We Can Help.

We’re preparing for our next MareGold Auction in Annapolis Royal and are currently looking for estates and quality antique items.

If you are downsizing, settling a parent’s estate, or clearing a family home, an auction can be a simple and respectful way to pass along a lifetime of belongings to new owners who will appreciate them.

Because we hold only a few auctions each year, our sales are carefully curated with interesting and fine antique items.

We are especially interested in:

  • Antique furniture

  • Artwork and prints

  • Rugs and textiles

  • Historical items and local history pieces

  • Old clocks, lamps, and mirrors

  • Books, décor, and collectibles

  • Outdoor garden furniture, urns, vases, and art pieces

  • Complete or partial estates

An auction can be a good way to handle an entire estate in one venture, rather than selling items one at a time.

If you’d like to talk about an estate or a few pieces, we’d be happy to have a conversation.
